MATTHEW LEMER It is with great sorrow the family announces the passing of Matthew Samuel Lemer, age eight. Matthew was the beloved son of Cheryl and Jay, grandson of Ben and Mary Maslove, and Sam and Mae Lemer. Matthew passed away peacefully at Childrens Hospital on June 15. He was predeceased by both grandfathers. Matthew was born in Mississauga, July 3, 1991 and moved to Winnipeg at the age of four. He was an outgoing student at A.E. Wright School where he gained a reputation for a sunny disposition, always greeting teachers, staff and students when ever the opportunity arose. He was a confident, friendly child who always stood by his friends. Never one to use or abuse a friend, he always put friendship ahead of all else. He was well thought of by his neighbours who came to trust him as they would someone much older. He had a love of sports, cub scouts, music and drama; but his greatest pleasure was spending Saturdays with his Dad. A Teen Burger and root beer, followed by a movie or time at the archery range were his high points. His time with us was far too short and he will be sorely missed. His family would like to acknowledge the excellent and dedicated staff at the Childrens Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Their care and tenderness toward Matthew, and their tolerance of family and friends visiting at all times of day and night was exceptional. The funeral will be at the Shaarey Zedek cemetery at Main and Armstrong (Gate #2) at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 19. The ceremony will be grave side. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be directed to the Childrens Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit or to the Childrens Wish Foundation of Canada.
